St. Anne Chinese School

Under the St. Anne Parish, with full support from past and present Pastors, St. Anne Chinese School was founded in 1982. Following the usual strict but vivid Catholic education tradition, our school provides tutoring on Chinese language and Culture.

We aim at offering our students an opportunity to be bilingual, and also aim at understanding both Chinese and Western Culture.

St. Anne Chinese School is currently a voting member of Association of Northern California Chinese Schools(ANCCS).

Programs:

We offer 2 programs: After School Program(Mandarin/Cantonese) and Saturday Program(Mandarin/Cantonese).

After School program:

1. Language Class (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday).

2. Friday Culture Classes: Singing & Games, Folk Dance, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Brush Painting or Chinese Martial Art Class are 
    offered.

   School hours: 3:30pm ~ 4:30pm

Saturday Program:  Language Class with some scheduled Culture Classes

   School hours: 9:00am ~12:00noon

Teaching Materials/Textbook:

Kindergarten:

   Knowing Chinese Character (Hong Kong) Daily Used Mandarin, Book 1 (Taiwan) Notes printed by Asia American Bilingual Center


Grade 1 to Grade 7:

Meizhou Chinese Book 1 to Book 7 Textbook package includes textbook, workbook, flash cards and CD (No CD for grade 4 and above)

Relevant teaching materials for individual grade are also used.

Syllabus of 7th grade includes teaching materials on SAT-Chinese and AP Chinese tests.

Emphasis on listening and speaking is designed for elementary level. However, at higher levels, listening, speaking, reading and writing are of the same importance. Teaching of Hanyu pinyin starts at 1st grade. Simplified Chinese Characters are introduced at 5th grade.


Extra curriculum Activities:

In order to enhance the interest of Chinese study and improve Chinese knowledge of our students, we encourage and tutor our students to participate in academic contests organized by ANCCS and Chinese Language Bridge Cup organized by SFUSD and Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco. Our students are regular winners in recent years.
